Thank you to those who applied to sit for the Vascular Access-Board Certified (VA-BCTM) exam. Below is an important update regarding the June 2021 seating of the exam. Please read carefully and if you have any questions or concerns, contact the VACC Business Office at info@vacert.org or 414-231-8222.
What’s different about the June 2021 exam?
The June 2021 seating of the VA-BC will not provide test results immediately upon completion of the exam. Scores will be delayed until mid-September.
Why will scores be delayed?
Every 5 years, VACC conducts a Job Analysis to determine if there have been substantial changes to the knowledge and skills needed by a Vascular Access professional. The most recent Job Analysis was completed in 2020 for implementation in 2021. Based on the analysis, a new “blueprint” or framework for exam topics is developed. New questions are written and questions that are no longer applicable are archived. The final result is a new exam that requires a bit more time to determine the “cut score” or passing score.
What to Expect
All aspects of the exam experience will remain the same, with the exception of provision of pass/fail notification upon completion of the exam. Test takers will receive their scores approximately 10 weeks after the June 30 close of the testing window.
Timing of Score Distribution – September 14, 2021
Following the exam, the testing company will work with VACC subject matter experts to determine the cut scores. This process requires that we wait until all tests have been completed. Performance on each question will be evaluated and scoring metrics will be updated as appropriate.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this delay may cause. This process is essential to ensure that the VA-BCTM credential remains relevant and valid.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions/concerns.
